When you put your hope in God, then you do not have to allow the fear of the world or of darkness to hold you back. In fact, it is God's love that COMPELS us to go and bring light to the dark places. I had the opportunity to share this message at the 2010 Willow Creek Leadership Summit, where thousands of leaders gathered in Chicago, while another 57,000 in total watched the broadcast in over 200 cities. Be sure to check out the highlight video!
From Chicago we were off to Charleston, SC where I was able to speak at Seacoast Church and got a small taste of southern culture. From there, we went to Guts Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I displayed immense bravery and my Australian roots by holding a kangaroo and getting way too close to a crocodile (Photos can be seen via Twitter and the photo gallery!) While I was there, I was able to be a part of was a Guts Girls gathering...and what an appropriate name for Christianity today! As the Body of Christ, we must decide that we are going to live our lives full of courage, bravery, and consciously make choices that are risky in order to make a difference in our world.
One surreal moment this month was being featured on the cover of Outreach Magazine! I was able to share about The A21 Campaign and the role of the Church to take a stand against human trafficking. The response has been incredible, as so many people are getting a revelation of God's love for these girls and the importance of taking a stand to make a difference in the lives of people who have been rescued. If you have not seen Outreach Magazine's latest edition, be sure to visit the website or pick up a copy today!
The next place we visited was Victorious Life Church in Tampa, Florida with Ed and Janis Russo. We had a fantastic time, and God's presence was so evident in every meeting. From there, we traveled to Life Church in Memphis where we saw nearly 400 salvations in one weekend! God is so good, and He is drawing people to His heart. His will is for everyone to enter into a relationship with Him.
This past weekend Nick and I have been at Jentezen Franklin's church in Atlanta, GA where I was able to share my heart about the necessity of finding your place. God has given us all a unique place and race to run. We need to remember that if all we see is what we see, we will never see all there is to see. Don't give up on your dreams, your marriage, your church, your ministry or where God has placed you now. Remember that God is at work in your life and situation, and that your place is vital and unique.
I recently had the opportunity on my podcast to interview Mike Pilavachi (you have to check it out!). If you're not joining me every week for "Coffee with Chris"...You're missing out! (I may be a little biased.)
We are so excited for the month of September, as Nick and I will celebrate our birthdays! I was born on the 23rd September 1966, and Nick was born on the 21st September 1967 (so yes, I did marry a younger man...), but we are both the same age every year on September 22nd. This year, instead of asking for gifts, we are asking for people to contribute to something more lasting and memorable. We have the opportunity to open another shelter for the victims of human trafficking in Eastern Europe, and realize that if every one of our partners, friends on Facebook, and Twitter followers donated a dollar, then we will be able to make this birthday wish a reality. Every donation makes a difference, and every life that is changed is significant.
Thank you so much for your partnership, prayer, and support! Our prayer this month is that you will be blessed and that your hope will be strengthened!!
Love ya!
