Blessed are the Flexible for They Shall Not SNAP

I was at our first Women of Faith event for the Fall tour in Oklahoma City last weekend and it was awesome in every sense of the word!

After months of planning, preparation, praying, and hoping, all of the hard work of the team paid off and God turned up big time. Women found faith in Jesus, they were filled with hope, purpose, healing, encouragement, and were equipped and empowered to be all that God has called them to be and to do all God has called them to do.

During one of the breaks I walked backstage to see this stunning young woman warming up for her ballet performance during the event and stopped dead in my tracks. I could not believe her flexibility. She was doing stretches I did not even know were possible. I saw the human body do things that I had never conceived.

I began to think how much further we could all go if we stayed flexible, malleable, pliable in our faith. If we were willing to allow God to continue to stretch us we would stand taller, reach further, lengthen our duration, and finish stronger.

As we mature in the faith it is often difficult to continue to put in the effort to stretch. We prefer our comforts, routine and status quo. Before we know it we can no longer even touch our knees let alone our toes. We have become stiff, rigid, dogmatic, and inflexible.

I want to be like that ballerina in the spirit. I know I will never be able to stretch like she does in the natural but I can certainly choose to remain pliable in the hands of God. I want to be ever-learning, ever-growing, and ever-changing. In fact I want to be more flexible in my next season of life and ministry than in the past.

"Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings. Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited" (Isaiah 54:2-3).

Its time to stretch!
